HARRISBURG PA – Reservations are being accepted for a series of two, one-day summer science camps during July (2012) at the State Museum of Pennsylvania, 300 North St., Harrisburg PA.
- “Fossil Day Camps” will be offered July 18, 19, and 20 (Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday) from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. each day for children ages 9-12; and
- “Archaeology and Native Americans Camps” will be offered July 25, 26, and 27 (Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday) from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. each day for children ages 7-10.
Both include hands-on activities and are led by museum educators; they cost $30 per child. Attendance is limited and offered on a first-come, first-served basis. For more information or to make a reservation, call 717-772-6997.
The state museum, located next to the State Capitol in Harrisburg, is one of 25 historic sites and museums administered by the Pennsylvania Historical and Museum Commission. It offers expansive collections interpreting Pennsylvania’s heritage. Museum hours are Wednesday through Saturday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Sunday, noon to 5 p.m. Admission is $5 for adults; $4 for children and senior citizens.
