Juried Art Exhibit Includes A May 20 Featured Lecture

HARRISBURG PA – “Art is an Entree, Not a Dessert,” a juried group exhibition, is being presented by the Susquehanna Art Museum of Harrisburg at the State Museum of Pennsylvania, 300 North St., Harrisburg PA, through July 15 (2012).

A lecture featuring Syngred Briddell of the Magnificent Minds Project will be offered in conjunction with the exhibit. Titled “Art Heals,” it examines ways that art can help heal a person’s mind, soul and body. The event, on May 20 (Sunday) at 2 p.m. at the state museum, is free with museum general admission.

Magnificent Minds is a non-profit organization that promotes artists with mental or emotional disabilities.

The state museum, located next to the State Capitol in Harrisburg, is one of 25 historic sites and museums administered by the Pennsylvania Historical and Museum Commission. It offers expansive collections interpreting Pennsylvania’s heritage. Museum hours are Wednesday through Saturday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Sunday, noon to 5 p.m. Admission is $5 for adults; $4 for children and senior citizens.
