GREEN LANE PA – An “early-bird walk” to study the fall migration of hawks, sparrows, and many other species is scheduled for Saturday (Oct. 20, 2012) beginning at 7:30 a.m. in the Montgomery County Parks and Heritage Services Division’s Green Lane Park. The public is invited to join its staff and search woodlots and meadows for these south-bound travelers.
- This event has been added to The Post calendar.
The park has been designated as an “important bird area” by the Pennsylvania Audubon Society, and is one of only 81 such sites in the state. More than 275 bird species have been documented in the park. Guests should bring binoculars and meet at the fly-fishing area located on Church Road. Waterproof boots or shoes are highly recommended, as trails will be wet in the early morning.
The program is free, but advance registration is required. For more information or to register, call Environmental Education Specialist Kevin Crilley at 215-234-4528.
